Head and Neck Surgery
On February 23, a LIVE surgery session was organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ENT Department. For the participants of the session we have prepared 3 different operations: removal of the tumour of the parotid glad with the evaporation of many branches of the facial nerve and its main trunk, further the ear surgery in the course of otosclerosis - it was a stapedotomy using a CO2 laser and sialoendoscopy with stone crushing with a holm laser. This third operation was extremely technically demanding. An endoscope with a diameter of 1.6 mm was used, which created a lot of trouble in the good transmission of the operational view. The operation was successful, participants saw the gradual destruction of the stone with a laser beam.
The session was attended by 1.5-2 thousand participants, and in some parts of it there were as many as 8 thousand entries. In addition, entry was recorded from 6 European countries and the USA.
The co-organizers of the session were STORZ and medVC, associated with the Poznań Supercomputer and Network Center.
In the intervals between operations, surgeons answered a number of questions from the participants.
